Maybe I'm Missing Something
Tuesday, January 9, 2007
Dear Mr. President,
Maybe I'm missing something. I know that you've been "elected by the people" or whatever, and I know you've access to all kinds of "intelligence" that I can't see. But from where I sit, it looks like we're having a pretty terrible time in Iraq.
From where I sit, it looks like hundreds of thousands of my generational peers are sweating, bleeding, and dying to "liberate" a country that wasn't a threat to us. From where I sit, it looks alot like our nation doesn't want to be there, and their nation hates us more now than before. From where I sit, it really does look like we just hanged the only guy who could keep these people in line, while the man who's responsible for attacking our nation is hanging out somewhere planning his next escapade.
If I'm not insane, if my perception isn't clouded, then how is it, Mr. President, that you think the answer starts with sending 20,000 more of my former classmates, friends, brothers, sisters, cousins, children, parents, etc. to Iraq? And how is it that when the recent congressional election opened your eyes to the fact that we want change, you think THIS is the answer? We want our men and women home. Safe.
Or at least, let's gostart finish the job in Afghanistan. Let's find Osama. Let's get the guy who actually got our nation on board with this whole stupid war to begin with.
I'm concerned. Concerned that we've deposed an insane (yet secular) dictator and opened up the "nation" of Iraq to being taken over by religious fanatics. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for religious freedom. But Pat Robertson, James Dobson, and yourself only attack the rest of us with your laws, your amendments, and your judgmental "prayers" in Jesus' name. Radical Islam seeks to physically annihilate us, in Allah's name, no less.
I'm concerned that more than 3000 of our loved ones have met their end in a nation that couldn't possibly have done anything worse to us than raise our gas prices.
But more than anything, Mr. President, I am terrified that we as a nation have trusted our fate to a man who can look the nation in the eye, and defy us.
Maybe I'm just missing something.

Multiple Personality Disorder
Monday, January 8, 2007
I swear, I'll never be an actual rockstar. Why, you ask? Because I have musical multiple personality disorder, or at least ADD. For real, I absolutely can't settle on a genre. Pop Rock today. Hard Rock tomorrow. Yesterday was techno. Last week was Country. Metal for most of last month. At any rate, here's a preview of what I've been working on most recently. Whatever.

Oh my god. Britney Spears has never looked more tragic. This pic is on the cover of today's New York Post, under the title "Bleary Spears".
Our angel has fallen from grace (K-Fed), then repented (FedEx), then fallen again. *Sniffle*

Son of a Witch...
I know that Skipper wasn't able to fully appreciate the book version of Wicked like he adored the show and soundtrack, but I found it completely fabulous.
So, since I LOVED Wicked as I did, I absolutely had to read the sequel, Son of a Witch. I wasn't disappointed. The picture that Gregory Maguire paints of Oz, a perspective on Oz that is VERY different from the movie we know and love, is so incredibly tangible that you feel like you've taken family vacations to the Emerald City (and were sorely disappointed by the filth, pretense, and complete government control, by the way).
Anyway, blah blah blah, I highly recommend the book. And I think Liir is hot. Grrrowl.

Getting a New Toy...
Thursday, January 4, 2007
After a REALLY long time of succumbing to an unnecessary societial demand for PC-use, I'm finally getting my first Mac since 1992. Its been a long time coming.
At any rate, since my three primary reasons for using a computer outside of work are web design, graphic design, and recording/producing music, its actually surprising that I didn't jump back to Macs a long time ago. They're built unbelievably creatively, and their Unix-based architecture opens up a whole new world of open source project, program and hack development opportunities. For any of you out there who aren't so geeky, that just means they're really nifty.
Now, to decide exactly what I want on it. More to come.

Something New.... Again....
Ok, so the last blog didn't stick for some reason. So here's the new one.
I think I needed something that's a little more consistent with the badass I really am. Or something like that.
Anywho, "Help! I think I'm a rockstar!" is a phrase that has haunted and defined several stages of my life thus far, and I think it does a good job of describing me... Hopefully I can keep up with this one.
Only time will tell.
